CASSIA

Heyo! I am Cassia Soodak, creator of the brand Modern Jester. I am a 23-year-old mixed media fashion designer, artist, stylist and creative director. I focus on textiles, metal jewelry/hardware, collage artists (digital and traditional) and fashion illustrations. I would describe myself as a chaotic (sometimes disorganized) native New Yorker with a strong love for fidget toys, history, sociology and swimming. I collect creepy photographs of real Victorian women sold at antique stores and sometimes, I get them tattooed on me. And… you can catch me sewing my mini skirt an hour before the function. 

Much of my art is political and social commentary, often including themes of womanhood, ancestry, disability, sexuality and queerness. At its core, my work centers around the coming of age lens of a “fidgety” sensory seeking neurodivergent “Weird Girl.” On the other hand I simultaneously hope my art rejects the idea that I have to be not like other women to be “cool.” In other words, my work focuses on sensory contrast (whether that be through materials, texture, color, or mismatch prints) to shine light on the often contradictory multidimensionality people hold. 

I am also open to commissions.  I like to make sexy one of one custom statement clothes that are for the dance floor. I am also equipped creative director, stylist and digital print artist (including digital illustrations and creative collages).
